Bio

Dr. Luisa Casas Luque is a Colombian Optometrist (OD, Phd, Magna cum laude in Education and Society from La Salle University. She has worked in public hospitals and private practice and completed post graduate studies at Pennsylvania College of Optometry in clinical diagnosis and management of ocular disease, worked for two years at Durban Westville University (South Africa) as a clinical resident, and completed de CAS program from New England College of Optometry in ocular disease and pharmacology.

Dr. Luque has worked in public health research and education projects for the LAC Region during eight years as program’s director for Latin-American and Caribbean for BHVI, where she implemented education courses for optometrist, conducted the first RARE refractive error research in the region and work with universities and associations of the LAC region to improve the profession with the support of the NGO sector.

Dr Luque has been academic peer for the Ministry of Education of Colombia, to evaluate the optometry programs in the high-quality accreditation Colombian council, and has been collaborating in the Myopia Management courses in the Region for BHVI and IMI.
