Bio

Dr. Xiangui (Hedy) He is the director of the Clinical Research Center of Shanghai Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Center/Shanghai Eye hospital, and executive director of Shanghai Children Myopia Center. She also supervises Master’s students at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University.

She has implemented the large-scale (3 million) vision screening program for children in Shanghai (SCALE study), the outdoor intervention trial(STORM study) and the children high myopia management program (SCALE-HM study), and has developed an outdoor monitoring wristwatch. She also acted as the initiator of the popular science action – Go Sunning for Sight, and created the Big Eye cartoon ambassador.

Dr. He is a principal investigator on childhood myopia at the National Clinical Research Center for Eye Diseases of China. She acts as an expert on the National Advisory Committee on Vision Health Management of Children and Adolescents. So far, she has published more than 60 academic papers related to myopia as an advanced author, and undertaken the myopia project of the national key R & D plan. She has been the recipient of the 18th Silver Snake Award in 2021 – the highest honour for young medical talents in Shanghai.
