Dr Edson dos Santos-Neto has a degree in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo and a fellowship in ophthalmology from the Hospital das Clínicas of São Paulo and graduated specialist in the area of contact lenses and pediatric ophthalmology.

For 35 years he has been an associate physician at the ophthalmological clinic of the Hospital das Clínicas in São Paulo. For the last 15 years he has been doing research in the field of pharmacological treatment in the prevention of myopia and is linked to the research area of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at USP. He is also active in the development of new compounds using nanotechnology.
