On the 24th and 25th of November, the Myopia Management Symposium took place in Peru, within the framework of the IX National and International Congress of Optometry and Optical Entrepreneurs COE 2023. The event was organized by the Guild of Optometrists and Optical Entrepreneurs of Peru (GOOP).
The IMI maintained a strong presence at the event, with ambassadors in attendance including Ángel Macedo Mariano, Ambassador from Peru, and Francisco Pérez Robles, Ambassador from Mexico.
Additional ambassadors from the Latam Myopia Control Group also participated in the event, including Héctor Hugo Páez from Colombia, Javier Villanueva Meza from Peru and Sabrina Lara from Argentina.
Discussions featured important academic figures from Latin America such as Elkin Sánchez Montenegro, Dean of the La Salle University of Colombia, and Johanna Garzón Parra, Dean of the Antonio Nariño University of Colombia.
The symposium addressed different clinical aspects related to the management of myopia in Latin America, highlighting the need to incorporate more optical myopia control devices in the Latin American market.
