The thirteenth “Conference on updates in Contact lens and Ophthalmic Optic” held on 3-4th October 2021 in Monopoli (BA), Italy, had more than 400 eye care practitioners show up in person at the event. A dedicated session on myopia was held during the conference with presenters from both optometry and ophthalmology backgrounds, working in synergy to raise myopia awareness and promote myopia management approaches.
Our Italian ambassador Giancarlo Montani, Professor of Clinical Contact Lens Application and Co-founder of the Centre for Contact Lens Research of the University of Salento, also the scientific and organizational manager of the Monopoli Conference said, “I was satisfied, not only with the numbers of participants but also with the enthusiasm that was breathed, a sign of the desire to return to see each other in person and to embark on the journey of myopia management together.”
