INTERNATIONAL MYOPIA INSTITUTE WELCOMES HOYA VISION CARE  TO JOIN IN RAISING MYOPIA AWARENESS AND PROMOTING EVIDENCE-BASED MYOPIA MANAGEMENT

March 17, 2022

The International Myopia Institute (IMI) is pleased to announce HOYA Vision Care, a leader in optical technology innovation, has announced their support of IMI activities to promote advocacy, advance research, and educational efforts in the global fight to address and manage myopia to prevent future vision impairment and blindness.

“IMI welcomes Hoya onboard, there still remain much to do in raising myopia awareness and encouraging the practise of evidence-based myopia management among eye care practitioners. The eye care profession plays a dominant role to educate the general public and make them aware of the impact of this progressive eye disease and the available management approaches. Early prevention and treatment are the keys to manage this ocular condition,” added IMI Chair, Professor Serge Resnikoff. “We look forward to work with HOYA and all our sponsors in sharing the knowledge and latest findings in the myopia field globally.”

The two entities will collaborate to create additional multimedia sources content including the summary videos for each published IMI whitepapers in an exclusive sponsorship to disseminate the leading insights and knowledge developed through the collaborative effort of the IMI global experts. The multimedia contents will be shared through key communication channels including IMI’s website and HOYA learning modules for global Eye Care Professionals (ECPs).

“This strategic partnership with the renowned International Myopia Institute aligns with one of HOYA Vision Care’s core missions to share relevant information, proven research and innovative solutions with the eye care community as we work collaboratively to address the growing problem of global myopia,” said Pascal Blaser, Global Medical Affairs Manager Myopia at HOYA Vision Care.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL MYOPIA INSTITUTE

The International Myopia Institute was formed following the WHO-BHVI meeting on myopia and high myopia in 2015, due to the need to address the increasing levels of myopia and high myopia worldwide that can lead to potentially sight threatening complications for an individual, and the massive global burden associated with lost productivity.

The IMI is a global group of experts who have come together to discuss, debate and make available the latest evidence-based recommendations in classifications, patient management, and research, in the form of the IMI white papers.

Our mission is to advance research, patient management and education in myopia to prevent future vision impairment and blindness associated with increasing myopia.  We aim to do this by bringing together, scientists, clinicians, policy makers, government and educators into the field of myopia to stimulate collaboration and sharing of knowledge.

Founded by Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI).
Supported by Zeiss, Essilor, CooperVision, OCULUS and HOYA.
