On May 22, as part of BHVI’s ‘Myopia Awareness Week’ (May 23 – May 28), Ufa Eye Research Institute (Ufa, Russia) held a sports event under the slogan “The sun loves us!” for patients, children and adolescents with myopia and their parents. The event’s purpose was to bring attention to the increasing number of myopia cases in children, receiving television coverage across regional networks.
IMI ambassador Mukharram M. Bikbov provided a report on myopia prevalence and gave tips and recommendations for children and their parents to reduce the risk of onset or progression of myopia. Partakers in the race were provided with free eye exams in the mobile ophthalmology unit, in an overall inspirational festival for those involved.
