Full Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Milan, Paolo graduated at Naples University in 1983 and obtained a postgraduate diploma in Ophthalmology in 1988 at the Milan University. The following year completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the University of Chicago and, as soon as he returned, he was appointed as Assistant Professor at the State University of Milan, in the mean time he headed of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service of the San Raffaele Hospital where he worked until 2000. In 2001 he obtained the qualification as Associate Professor, and concomitantly headed the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus of the San Paolo University Hospital. In 2010 he was appointed as Chairman of the University Department of Ophthalmology of the San Giuseppe Hospital, and in the same period he chaired the Orthoptics Degree course at the University of Milan and was elected President of the Italian Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology. During those years he was Chairman of the Scientific Board of the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and obtained the eligibility as Full Professor. He is part of the Prevention Commission of the Ministry of Health in Italy
